Milford walking challenge to kick off this weekend
The city of Milford is encouraging residents to get healthy by taking part in a walking challenge.
Members of the Milford Chamber of Commerce and the Health and Wellness Committee organized a six-week walking challenge in hope of getting local residents, employers and employees in better shape.
Organizers say the goal of Step By Step to a Healthier Milford is simple - to get as many people as possible to take as many steps as possible, ideally 10,000 of them.
Registration runs right up to the kickoff at Walnut Beach Pavilion Saturday at 9 a.m.
Individuals and teams participating in the challenge will receive a pedometer at the kickoff. They will also receive weekly tips, as well as camaraderie for those who walk as part of a team.
Organizers say they hope participants will make walking a habit by the end of the challenge.
The walking challenge is open to anyone, even if you don't live in Milford.
The challenge will wrap up at the end of October.
