Mom pushes for defibrillators in every CT school

A concerned Norwalk mother is pushing lawmakers to pass legislation requiring automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) for every Connecticut school.
Erin Halsey says her son has a congenital heart defect. She adds she would like to know that a life-saving device is on hand at her son?s school should he need it.
State Rep. Chris Perrone (D) has proposed legislation that would make it mandatory for schools to have one portable defibrillator and one person on site that is trained how to use it.
Those against AEDs in schools say making them mandatory would cost schools an extra $1,000 to $1,500. Others feel schools would be liable if efforts to save a life failed.
