Morristown police are working to improve public safety by stepping up patrols.
It's in response to a brutal attack that happened Friday night.
Authorities say Brian Sessions of East Orange broke into a woman's apartment.
When she returned from shopping - he allegedly attacked her with a Taser, tied her up and sexually assaulted her.
The victim was able to get free and call police. Sessions was arrested.
Police believe he was also involved in other burglaries in Morristown in November and December.
Morristown Mayor Timothy Dougherty released this statement in response.
"While we have every reason to believe that these crimes are isolated and that no one should be afraid, we still encourage our residents to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity," says Dougherty.
