Mother: Ex-husband kidnapped daughter, fled to Russia
A Greenwich woman says her ex-husband kidnapped their daughter and fled with her to Russia last weekend.
Katerina Hramovich says she has been clinging to hopes of seeing her 7-year-old daughter Alina again after she was abducted by her father.
According to a police report obtained by News 12, Hramovich's ex-husband Ruslan Usmanova is wanted on a felony charge of abduction for allegedly taking 7-year-old Alina Usmanova.
Police say last weekend, Usmanova -- while with the child during an unsupervised visit -- flew her to Russia and then sent his ex-wife an email saying they were gone.
The mother's attorney, Alex Meyerovich, says there is no treaty in place between the U.S. and Russia with regard to returning abducted children, which means it will take high-level diplomatic intervention to return the girl.
Authorities say they have reported the abduction to Interpol in Europe. News 12 also obtained a report which says the U.S. State Department and the American Embassy in Russia are both involved in the investigation.
Meyerovich says Alina Usmanova has been entered into the National Crime Information Center, or NCIC, database.
