The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that a tornado with winds of 100 mph touched down in New Canaan Tuesday around 5:30 p.m.
Meteorologists from the National Weather Service say they have already surveyed two confirmed tornados in the Hudson Valley and one on Long Island.
They believe the storm hit the western edge of New Canaan first on Weed Street and cut through the town before heading east into Norwalk.
They say that these types of storms don't normally happen in October.
The town says most power is being restored, and it is assessing the damage.
No serious injuries have been reported.
The National Weather Service will be heading to Norwalk to assess damage there.
It suspects that the storm has died out in the south.
