New age, weight requirements for car seats begin today
More than 100 new laws previously passed by the Connecticut General Assembly and signed by Gov. Dannel Malloy are taking effect in Connecticut, with one of those affecting car seats.
New age and weight requirements begin today.
Under the new law, children must remain in a rear facing car seat until they are 2 years old and weigh 30 pounds.
For use of booster seats, kids must be at least 5 years old and weigh 40 pounds.
Children 8 years old and over 60 pounds can sit in a normal seat with the use of a seatbelt at all times.
