A New Canaan mother whose son died in the 9/11 attacks used her pain to urge the Democratic Congress Tuesday to improve security.

Mary Fetchet testified before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. She also met with the staff of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY). For Fetchet, it was the culmination of a personal crusade that began more than five years ago.

Fetchet's 24-year-old son Brad died in the World Trade Center attacks. Fetchet formed the group Voices of September 11th to provide support for families affected by the terrorist acts. She says she hopes lawmakers will put national security at the top of their agendas so others do not suffer the same fate.
