The New Canaan Police Department started to investigate some of its own officers Monday.
Internal Affairs investigators are questioning police officers to determine if they accepted inappropriate gifts and services. The investigation stems from an anonymous complaint First Selectman Judy Neville (R-New Canaan) received. Neville said the letter indicated several new police officers received gifts and services from a local company.
New Canaan Police Chief Edward Nadriczny said if the allegations are true, it is against department policy.
The officers in question are at work and will remain on active duty until investigators have solid evidence. Meanwhile, Neville has hired an outside attorney to work with the Internal Affairs Department. The investigation should take approximately a month.
