Nearly 7% of people under the age of 65 don't have health Insurance in Fairfield County, according to recent data from the Public Health Institute.
It found that Fairfield County had the highest rate of people in the state without insurance. New Haven County came next at 6%, then Litchfield County in 5%.
A report from the Kaiser Family Foundation says going without coverage can lead to serious health consequences, including less preventative care, delayed care and medical debt.
