New DNA evidence may help the police solve the murder of 19-year-old Eric Diaz, of Bridgeport.
On Sept. 14, police say Diaz was shot in the stomach near the intersection of Beardsley Street and Newfield Avenue.
Five weeks later, Police Chief AJ Perez met with Diaz’s uncle Edwin Diaz to let him know that investigators may be one step closer to arresting his nephew's killer.
Perez would not say where the DNA came from, only that it could provide a crucial direct link to the person who pulled the trigger, especially if that person's DNA is in a police database, or can be matched to a suspect.
