New Milford police say a man died in the Housatonic River after he fatally stabbed a woman on Young's Field Road Monday night.
Police say the man and woman from Danbury got into a fight around 7 p.m. They say he then pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman multiple times in front of witnesses in the park.
The man then jumped into the nearby Housatonic River.
Police say their dive team recovered his body in the river two hours later. Police will not say how he died yet, but a man whom News 12 Connecticut spoke to off camera says he heard the man stabbed himself before he jumped into the river.
Police say the couple knew each other, but they have not released their names.
