Professional lacrosse is coming to Connecticut at Fairfield University.
Starting on May 30, the newest Major League Lacrosse franchise will play home games at Rafferty Stadium on the campus of the university.
The league says the Hammerheads' color is for the state's official flag and the mascot was chosen to represent the diverse marine species found in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Long Island Sound.
Major League Lacrosse is no stranger to the state of Connecticut. Rafferty Stadium hosted a playoff matchup during the 2016 MLL playoffs.
The Bridgeport Barrage played in the league from 2001-2003 before the team moved to Philadelphia.
Rafferty Stadium will play host to five Connecticut Hammerheads home games throughout the season.
