Doctors urge men to get screened during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
10h agoNews12 reporter Frank Recchia was honored with "Volunteer of the Year" by the nonprofit organization Cardinal Shehan Center.
The nonprofit presented the award to Recchia at a ceremony on Thursday morning.
Recchia says it is a big honor to receive this title.
Lorraine Gibbons, the director of the Cardinal Shehan Center, called Recchia a Bridgeport treasure.
"Frank Recchia is not just a News 12 treasure, or a Bridgeport treasure. Frank is a Connecticut treasurer, Frank is the only reporter who is improving and saving lives by helping people get housing, wheelchair vans, organ transplants,” Gibbons said. “That's why we at the Cardinals Shehan Center are giving Frank our most prestigious honor. Congratulations, Frank, we love you."
