Prosecutors say they will not file any criminal charges in connection with the Christmas Day fire in Stamford that killed five people.

Ten-year-old Lilly and 7-year-old twins, Grace and Sarah Badger, as well as their grandparents, Lomer and Pauline Johnson, were killed in the fire.

Police say they conducted more than 60 interviews, questioning homeowner Madonna Badger and Michael Borcina, her boyfriend and the home's contractor.

Authorities say fireplace embers Borcina left in the trash eventually set the Shippan Avenue home ablaze.

Both Badger and her ex-husband have announced plans to sue the city in connection with the fire and the demolition of the home the next day.

Connecticut State's Attorney David Cohen has suggested officials get a second opinion before demolishing the scene in future fatal fire cases.
