A Norwalk bakery is surprising one person every day in August with a free cake.

The Forever Sweet Bakery, located at 4 New Canaan Ave., is giving away cakes to deserving individuals as part of its "30 for 30 Cakes" project.

Recipients will be surprised by "knocking on their doors at homes or businesses," according to owner Sky Mercede, who adds that it's a fun way to "pay it forward."

Wednesday's delivery went to an urgent care center, where Catherine Gonzalez was nominated by a patient.

"I had no idea," Gonzalez says. "Just a really nice surprise and we know that our hard work is appreciated."
