Norwalk's Common Council voted last night to postpone a decision on a controversial plan to build a mosque in the city.
The zoning commission already voted in favor of the mosque last week.
Neighbors are worried that the Al-Madany Islamic Center would be too big for Fillow Street and would bring in too much traffic.
A spokesperson for the Islamic Center said the mosque would be a good addition to the community.
Residents who oppose the mosque say the controversy is not over religious freedom, but over the size of the project.
The council plans to vote at its next meeting in two weeks.
