A Norwalk man appeared in court today after police say he stabbed his girlfriend's dog.
Police say Vamond Elmore, 35, stabbed the pit bull, named Samantha, last night because it would not stop barking.
Elmore told police the dog attacked him and he was just defending himself.
Officials say the dog suffered a one-inch gash and required several staples to close the wound, but is expected to be OK.
