Norwalk mom hopes to save others by chronicling son's drug addiction
A Norwalk mom is spreading the word of drug awareness with a new book chronicling her son?s fatal struggle with drug abuse. Ginger Katz, of Norwalk, is speaking out about her son Ian?s addiction in a new book called ?Sunny's Story: How to Save a Young Life.? In 1996, Katz found her 20-year-old son dead of a heroin overdose. The book is told from the perspective of Ian's dog, Sunny. Katz says her reasoning is that Sunny was the one to see all of the behavior she and her husband missed. She says Sunny saw Ian?s first cigarette, the marijuana in the backyard and the first sip of beer. Katz also raises drug awareness through a program she founded called The Courage to Speak. She hopes families will use the book as a tool to talk to their kids about drugs.
