A person driving a moped in Norwalk Friday night was killed in a crash with a car at the intersection of Maple Street and Van Buren Avenue.

Police responded to the scene just before 10 p.m.

The operator of the moped, Joseph Velez, 45, of Norwalk, was taken to Norwalk Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the second vehicle, an Infiniti SUV, stayed on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
