(02/13/06) STAMFORD ? Doctors across Southwestern Connecticut say they?ve seen a spike in shoveling-related injuries following the weekend snowstorm.
Doctors say they?ve seen their share of fractures from residents slipping and falling on the ice. In addition, back strains and heart problems have also afflicted many people shoveling snow. Officials at Greenwich Hospital offered a gruesome piece of information on shoveling injuries. They say doctors had to perform amputations on three people due to snow blower accidents.
Doctors urge all residents to use common sense when shoveling. They say people should go easy, take it slow and not rush when clearing away snow.
