A Fairfield police officer is recovering after investigators say he was dragged by a car Friday afternoon.
Police say that Officer Michael Guilfoyle was driving on Church Hill Road when he saw a car stopped in the middle of the road. Officers say the female driver was dazed, drooling and unresponsive to Guilfoyle's commands.
As Guilfoyle opened the passenger door, police say driver January Wilson struck the police vehicle behind her. Police say he grabbed the door again, but was dragged and knocked to the ground as the car sped away.
Guilfoyle was injured but able to get into his car and follow the suspect.
