Two men were injured in a shooting in South Norwalk early Saturday morning.
Officials say they heard gunfire around 2 a.m. and ran to investigate.
Police say they saw Jeffery Moultrie walking with his hands in his sweatshirt. When they asked him to stop he allegedly ran and a gun hit the ground.
The officer eventually tackled him and discovered the 28-year-old had been shot in the hip. He was treated for the gunshot wound and is now behind bars.
Police say they also found another man driving away. The driver was also shot, but is expected to be OK.
People who live in the area say they were surprised to hear about the violence.
"I've never felt unsafe and it's a shock," says Arnoldo Guerrero, of South Norwalk.
Officials are still investigating what led up to the shooting and who fired first.
Police say the holidays attract more people to night spots in South Norwalk, so they are patrolling the area closely at closing time.
Moultrie is facing weapons charges. His bond was set at $100,000.
