Officials say two swimmers were rescued Tuesday night in Long Beach.

The incident happened in the ocean off of Monroe Boulevard. Officials say the swimmers went into the water after hours when no lifeguards were on duty.

The swimmers found themselves in trouble but were able to reach jetties on their own. Lifeguards met them there.

The swimmers were cut up and bruised, but otherwise OK.
