Bridgeport officials announced they have picked a developer to build a shopping plaza on the east end.
Bridgeport-based Ashlar Construction will oversee the project, which will bring a grocery store, library and retail space to Stratford Avenue.
Mayor Joe Ganim says the project is a key part to the recovery of that part of the city.
“This section [of the] Stratford Avenue corridor has been neglected for decades and decades and finally something you would think as simple like a grocery store [or] a pharmacy, health care needs are going to be addressed right here,” says Ganim.
City officials say a construction start date has yet to be announced
