Officials say Ansonia police officers shot and killed a man during a domestic dispute Thursday night.
They say officers received a complaint from a woman that her boyfriend, who had become physically aggressive, was in violation of a protective order.
Officials say the man had previously been arrested for domestic violence.
Mayor David Cassetti says the man came out of a Myrtle Street house brandishing a knife at the officers. Officials say the man refused to drop the knife when officers deployed a Taser, which had no effect.
They say an officer then fired a single round from his gun at the man after he ran toward them while still holding the knife.
Connecticut state police are investigating into what they describe the shooting as a "use of force" incident.
