Officials backtracked Friday after facing uproar over a decision to shorten the length of the high school football season.
The shortened season would have eliminated Thanksgiving Day games, which were traditionally played between rival schools in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Conference.
Players, coaches and parents opposed the decision, according to officials.
The conference will once again follow the same schedule that's been in place for the last 20 years, with the championship game the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Rival schools then play one another on Thanksgiving Day.
