Some Bridgeport residents and state leaders are demanding answers from the city this morning.
They want to know why the Water Pollution Control Authority has moved to foreclose on hundreds of homes over the past decade.
Over the past 10 years, officials say the WPCA has moved to foreclose on 1,200 homes in Bridgeport over unpaid sewer bills.
One concerned resident told News 12 that his friend was struggling to pay her bills and had to declare bankruptcy because no one at the WPCA would work with her.
The city's attorney defends the WPCA's decision, saying foreclosing on homes is a last-ditch effort to get unpaid bills paid.
Community members say they're planning more meetings in the future with hopes of preventing additional foreclosures.
