Fire officials in Stamford are blaming illegal fireworks for starting a house fire.
It happened yesterday around 10 p.m. on Evergreen Court.
According to officials, a person home at the time noticed the fire when he came out to walk his dog. Officials say he put it out before crews arrived.
The fire marshal determined the fire was sparked by a Roman candle, an illegal firework that shoots projectiles into the air.
Officials are warning just how dangerous both legal and illegal fireworks can be.
They say even sparklers, which are legal in Connecticut, are hot enough to burn metal.
Officials say no other part of the home was damaged, and no one was injured.
There is no word yet on who set off the fireworks.
