Off-track betting locations in New Haven, Bridgeport and Stamford have reopened Wednesday for the first time since the pandemic began.
Winners at Bobby V's opened with limited capacity and new regulations. Winners SportTech Venues' Manager Todd Hill says the biggest challenge has been communicating new protocols to the public.
New regulations include directional arrows, signs and removing some tables to encourage social distancing.
SportsTech says it lost close to 80% of revenue due to COVID-19, and is holding off opening smaller locations in Norwalk and Milford.
Although a lot of gambling is online, Hill says companies have never been happier to welcome customers back inside their locations.
SportTech and off-track betting officials say they'll meet in the next few days to go over how the first few days went, and determine if and when they should open up additional locations.
Winners says its app has kept it afloat.
