The Stamford Animal Shelter is calling all pet lovers to open their homes and adopt a dog.
Animal control officers are not sure why the there are so many unwanted pets. They say the majority of the dogs currently at the shelter were surrendered by their owners, while others were found abandoned. Right now, there are 28 dogs ranging from a beagle puppy to an 8-year-old pit bull.
The shelter's manager is in the process of contacting other rescue facilities and shelters to see if they have any room. She says many of the dogs just need a little love.
