A suspicious package that led MTA officials to close the Bridgeport train station for two hours Tuesday evening turned out to contain nothing but concrete.

Police shut down a one-block radius around the station between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. after being alerted to the presence of a suspicious yellow case containing six unidentified cylinders. The bomb squad used a bomb-sniffing dog to determine the case did not pose a threat.

A construction worker who had been working in the area claimed the case shortly after the station reopened. The worker told authorities the cylinders are used to test how pressure affects the concrete.

During the shutdown, no one was allowed inside the station. Metro-North passengers were allowed off the train, but instructed to move directly to street level from the outside.
