Part of Smith Ridge Road in New Canaan is back open Monday morning after police said a car hit a utility pole. 

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Sunday night and temporarily shut the road down while crews made repairs.

Police said Smith Ridge Road from Twin Pond Lane to Canoe Hill Road was closed as utility crews repaired the pole. 

Police said the driver was evaluated by paramedics on scene and is OK. They said the driver was the only person in the car. The crash remains under investigation.
