People in Stamford dropped 22 stories at Beacon Harbor Point to raise awareness of drug addiction, the importance of support and fighting stigma.
Many of the people who took part in the Shatterproof Challenge Rappel have a family member who has struggled with drug addiction or are in recovery themselves.
The Rappeling Challenge raises money for Shatterproof, a national organization with local roots, that seeks to change the perception of addiction.
"The feeling is if you have this disease, just try harder, try harder and if you are not, you are the bad kid," said founder of Shatterproof, Gary Mendell, who lost his son to addiction.
Saturday's event was the final rappel. The event will be switching to a 5K run and walk.
