A Bridgeport woman is leading an effort to have bathrooms built at the Fairfield Metro train station.
Katie Fredericks, 20, recently started an online petition to address the lack of a bathroom facility and convenience shop at the station.
Commuters who spoke with News 12 said the station seemed "desolate" and is in need of an upgrade.
Fredericks says her online petition gives everyone a chance for their complaints to be heard. She says she hopes it will help spark change.
News 12 spoke with Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau who said he hopes that the Department of Transportation can come up with a way to build restrooms at the station.
