A legendary local pilot is giving flying enthusiasts a bird?s-eye view of Connecticut in a plane that?s a blast from the past.
For $50, Morgan Kaolian flies passengers in a two-seat, partially enclosed Piper J-3 ?Cub? plane for 15 minutes. Kaolian says the plane allows passengers to feel what it was like to fly in the 1930s and 40s. The experienced pilot started Skyrides in the mid 1960s and also provides flights on larger Cessna planes.
Kaolian says he learned how to fly before he could drive. He has logged nearly 30,000 miles in the sky and was the first morning traffic reporter in Connecticut skies.
