A woman was killed Friday night following a car crash Bridgeport's east end, police say.

The incident happened at the corner of Seaview Avenue and Holly Street.

Police tell News 12 Connecticut that a Bridgeport woman was driving a 2006 Chrysler minivan when it collided with a Ford Ranger around 10 p.m.

Authorities say the driver of the Chrysler was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police are withholding the victim's name until they notify her next of kin, but friends say she was a beloved member of the community and a well-known figure who will be deeply missed.

"My prayers are to the family and anything we can do – we’ll be there for the family," said Tony Barr, a longtime friend of the victim.

Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
