Two people are dead after their car overturned during a crash and ended up in the Housatonic River.

Police say the accident happened off Roosevelt Drive in Seymour on Friday.

Both victims in the car had their seatbelts on when rescue crews found them.

There is no word on their identities.

The river was shut down to boat traffic as crews secured the area.
