Bridgeport police say a man is behind bars on weapons charges after crashing his car through a fence, then running away from the scene.
They say 26-year-old Adam Buster drove into a front yard on Maple Street around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
He then led police on a foot chase until he was apprehended, according to officials.
Police say that when they initially approached Buster, he refused to back away from a handgun with a high-capacity magazine that was laying on the front seat of his car.
"I am so proud of my officers. It took a lot of restraint for these officers not to shoot Mr. Buster when he turned and moved towards the gun," said Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez.
Police say Buster is being held on a $200,000 bond. They say he is also a suspect in a series of armed robberies on the East Side of the city.
