(08/07/06) OSSINING, NY ? Police in Ossining, New York arrested a woman and accused her of killing her mother, a Stamford schoolteacher, earlier this year.
Police found Westhill High School teacher Patricia Mery stabbed and beaten to death in her home on Mother?s Day. Investigators arrested Mery?s daughter, 26-year-old Anne Trovato, and charged her with second-degree murder. Police did not reveal a definite motive, but they feel the murder could have something to do with an ongoing visitation battle over Trovato?s daughter.
Detectives say Trovato showed no surprise or emotion when arrested for her mother?s murder. The suspect did not enter a plea during a court appearance Monday. She is being held without bail.
