Police in Danbury are investigating a serious crash that happened early Saturday morning on West Street near Pleasant Street.

Officials say the car hit a telephone pole, a fence, a mailbox, two stone walls before finally coming to a stop against a small tree near a house.

There were two people inside the vehicle. One was able to get out, and the other had to be removed by first responders.

Both the driver and passenger were hospitalized.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
