Police: Don't leave packages out on porch
Fairfield homeowners are being warned by police today to look out for one or more thieves stealing packages off of people's doorsteps.
Police say they have received more than a half-dozen reports of theft in the Village Lane area of Southport. Many residents say they had no idea a package had been stolen off their doorsteps until days later.
Lt. James Perez, of the Fairfield Police Department, says some of the theft reports even come from the mail carriers.
"We have gotten reports of vehicles actually following these UPS, these FedEx, these DSL trucks," said Perez.
Police are urging residents to make sure that if they are expecting a delivery, not to leave the packages out on their doorstep.
