Police in Bridgeport are investigating after they say a driver hit a pedestrian and then took off.

It happened Sunday night around 7 p.m. near Jane and East Main streets.

Police are not releasing a lot of information at this time, but they do tell News 12 Connecticut it was a dark-colored SUV that hit the pedestrian.

According to police, the vehicle was last seen going south on East Main Street.

The extent of the pedestrian's injuries are not known and it's unclear if the pedestrian was taken to the hospital.
