Police: Father, son stabbed outside Stamford club
A New Haven man and his son were stabbed outside a Stamford strip club, police say.
The incident happened in the parking lot of Mystique Club on Poplar Street just after midnight Sunday.
Investigators say the 51-year-old man was celebrating his birthday with his two sons when he became drunk and touched a dancer.
Police say the man and his sons were kicked out of the club and then argued and threatened security guards in the parking lot.
They say a black-colored BMW pulled into the parking lot and blocked the father and his sons from leaving.
Police say three suspects got out of the car and attacked the father, so he pulled out a knife to defend himself.
The men grabbed the knife and cut and stabbed the man on the back and the head.
One of the man's sons was also stabbed. Both were transported to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
Police are investigating whether the dancer at the club called the men to come and help her after the father had touched her inside the club.
Mystique has been cited for violations in the past. Police say at least one bouncer was recently arrested for assaulting a customer he was removing from the club.
Several reports have been filed with the state liquor commission and the club was sanctioned in a fatal car accident for serving minors. Police say they are checking to see if the club had overserved the man drinks before he was kicked out.
