A Bridgeport neighborhood is on edge after a man was assaulted by teenagers, according to police.
Police say a 31-year-old man was walking home from Fire Engine Pizza Company in the Black Rock section of the city when he was confronted by four teens.
The group asked to use his phone and to buy pizza for him, but when he refused, he was punched and surrounded, according to police. The man was eventually able to break free and call police.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says several incidents are responsible for more police stationed on Fairfield Avenue. Neighbors say they have noticed a spike in crime, including one who caught a robbery on surveillance video two months ago.
Police are confident they will make an arrest because of surveillance cameras placed in the area.
The suspects are believed to have fled on foot on Fairfield Avenue, and are all minors, according to police.
