A man is facing charges after a confrontation outside the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee office Friday afternoon.
Police say Michael Silverstein showed up at the office and started yelling profanities at the volunteers inside.
When someone tried to record the incident, Silverstein allegedly knocked the phone out of the person's hand.
He now faces breach of peace charges.
Fairfield Democrats and Republicans put out a joint statement on Facebook this morning saying in part, "We come together, Fairfield Democrats and Republicans alike, to unequivocally denounce such behavior and call for civility in all political discourse..."
The statement goes on to read, "Regardless of our political affiliation or beliefs, bullying, intimidation, verbal threats, and physical attacks are NOT acceptable under any circumstances."
