Police in North Arlington have arrested a man they say cursed and threw kitchen knives at them as he barricaded himself inside his home.
The incident happened Tuesday around 6:17 p.m. at a home on Eagle Street.
Police were called to the home of Jordan Crato Montiero, 20, for reports of a family disturbance.
According to officers, Montiero began cursing and throwing knives at them.
Officers say he then barricaded himself inside the home.
Police made brief phone contact with him, but he then made threats of harming officers and himself.
At one point, he opened a window and threw two knives and a broken chair leg out the window at police. Montiero surrendered about an hour later.
He has been charged with aggravated assault on police and unlawful possession of weapons, among other charges.
He's being held at the Bergen County jail without bail pending his first appearance in court.
