Police officer hospitalized after 3-alarm fire in Hoboken
Firefighters says a three-alarm fire in Hoboken sent a police officer to the hospital Sunday morning.
Crews say the fire broke out just after 6 a.m. at a building on Washington Street.
The fire began in the rear of the building in a void space between the first and second floors.
They say the cold weather conditions made it even more difficult to put out the flames.
The fire was declared under control almost two hours after it was called in.
Firefighters say they are inspecting the neighboring buildings to check for damage and to clear any smoke that may have drifted between the buildings.
Crews say one police officer was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
