Police: Pedestrian struck on Main Street in Bridgeport

A car accident in Bridgeport near the Meritt Canteen on Main Street left a pedestrian hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday night, police say. 
The victim, who police described as a 37-year-old Bridgeport man, was struck near the intersection with Vincelette Street around 11:45 p.m.
The driver called 911 and remained at the scene, police say.
According to investigators, the victim was running to a gas station. He was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police say.
Investigators were still piecing together the circumstances Thursday evening,
"We don't know right at this time who has the right of way," authorities told News 12 Connecticut.
