Police raid uncle’s University Avenue apartment after tip about missing 10-year-old girl
A Bronx man says police illegally raided his apartment Tuesday in search of his missing 10-year-old niece.
Michel Jones says police broke down the door of his 2328 University Ave. apartment looking for the girl around 6:30 a.m.
Jones tells News 12 that he lives in the apartment with the girl, 10-year-old Madison, and her mother and has not seen the two since around 2 p.m. yesterday.
He says he explained this to police, but they knocked down the door anyway.
A man at the scene claiming to be the father of Madison says he thought Jones was holding the girl hostage inside the apartment.
But when police knocked down the door, neither Madison or her aunt were inside. Police are still searching for the missing girl.
