Police: Spike in accidents over Memorial Day weekend from 2015
State police say they saw a spike in the number of accidents on state roads this Memorial Day weekend, but overall, the number of deadly crashes remained low.
State troopers released their final enforcement numbers this morning, showing they responded to two fatal crashes between Thursday and Monday. That's the same number they reported last year.
State police say they saw 447 accidents, 74 of which had reported injuries. That's up about 40 percent from last year.
While the number of accidents increased, state police say they actually saw fewer arrests for driving under the influence.

Fifty-one people were arrested this year, compared to 57 last year.
